Job Title: IT Support Engineer / MSP Support Engineer

 

Salary: Starting salary up to £35,000 (depending on experience), reviewed after 12 months

 

Location: Office site based in Derby, with the expectation to travel within the Midlands for client support as needed. Remote office working by agreement

Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced IT Support Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will have several years’ experience in a similar MSP or IT support role and be confident supporting a wide range of Microsoft technologies, networks, and end users. You will be responsible for providing remote and on-site support, managing Microsoft 365 environments, troubleshooting Windows workstations and servers and assisting with networking and security-related issues.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1st, 2nd (and some 3rd) line IT support to business clients

Manage, support, and maintain Microsoft 365 environments (Users, Mailboxes, Azure, EntraID, Intune, SharePoint, etc.)

Handle helpdesk tickets, troubleshooting and resolving issues efficiently

Support Windows 10 / 11 operating systems

Administer and support Microsoft Windows Server environments

Manage and troubleshoot core infrastructure services such as: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies

Support and troubleshoot Local Area Networks (LAN), including switches, cabling, and Wi-Fi

Understand and support routers and firewalls (basic configuration, troubleshooting, connectivity issues)

Assist with onboarding/offboarding users and devices

Maintain accurate documentation and ticket notes

Escalate issues appropriately while taking ownership of resolutions

Work closely with colleagues to deliver a high level of customer service

 

Required Skills & Experience:

ESSENTIAL - A strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration, preferrably with certification

Several years of experience in a similar IT Support / MSP role

Solid understanding of Windows Server and Windows workstation environments

Good working knowledge of networking fundamentals (LAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

Experience supporting routers, firewalls, and internet connectivity

Confident troubleshooting hardware and software issues

Experience working with helpdesk/ticketing systems

Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude

Ability to work independently and as part of a small team

 

Desirable:

MSP experience

Basic cyber security knowledge (MFA, endpoint protection, backups, firewalls)

Relevant certifications (Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, etc.)
