Job Description

Overview:
Our client are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Coordinator to join their project team delivering clean water and wastewater infrastructure solutions for Yorkshire Water. This role plays a crucial part in coordinating mechanical design activities, supporting project delivery, and ensuring designs are developed in alignment with Yorkshire Water s operational and technical requirements.

This position would ideally suit someone with around 3 5 years of industry experience who is looking to progress their career into a more client-facing and coordination-focused role, with increased responsibility across multidisciplinary project delivery and stakeholder management.


Key Responsibilities:
o Coordinate and support the delivery of mechanical design documentation including but not limited to:
Pumping systems
Pipework layouts
Filtration units
Water and wastewater treatment systems
o Work closely with mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering teams to develop integrated and coordinated design solutions.
o Coordinate mechanical design interfaces between internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and the client.
o Attend regular client meetings (e.g., weekly progress updates, hazard reviews, and design coordination meetings).
o Support stakeholder communication and ensure mechanical design solutions align with client expectations and project requirements.
o Assist with the coordination and review of technical submissions, mechanical specifications, and design documentation.
o Engage with the supply chain for the specification, coordination, and procurement of mechanical equipment.
o Conduct site visits for surveys, inspections, and design coordination activities as required.
o Provide mechanical coordination and technical support during construction and commissioning phases as needed.

Required Skills & Experience:
• Degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in mechanical design, design coordination, or project delivery within the water or wastewater sectors.
  • Knowledge of UK water industry standards and practices (e.g., WIMES).
  • Ability to interpret and coordinate P&IDs, mechanical layout drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills for effective collaboration and client engagement.
  • Ability to manage multiple mechanical design deliverables across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Full UK driving license (for site travel).
  • Familiarity with 3D design tools and coordination software (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit).
